The NSW Government is providing $300,000 for Central Coast Council to upgrade Terrigal BMX Track through Round 3 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the upgrade would provide Terrigal BMX Club and the wider community an improved facility for recreation, training and competitions.
“Not only will the construction work boost our local economy at such a critical time but it will also provide significant improvements to the track that is regularly used by BMX enthusiasts and local residents,” Mr Crouch said.
“The work will include replacement of the existing surface, replacement and repair of the berms, and drainage works.
“Importantly, this will enable Terrigal BMX Club to host higher level State and National BMX events for the first time.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with regional communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects. To date, Rounds 1 and 2 of the program have funded more than 1,000 projects.
“We are funding grassroots projects that make a real difference to each community, and we know how important it is to support our regional towns with new infrastructure and programs,” Mr Barilaro said.
Central Coast Council Mayor Lisa Matthews said these upgrades will provide a higher quality, safer and more functional BMX facility.
“We are thankful to the NSW Government for this funding which will enable an upgraded facility for our general community’s use and provide Terrigal BMX Club with a venue suitable for staging competitions and opportunity to bid for State events,” Mayor Matthews said.
“Central Coast Council aims to promote healthy and active lifestyles for our community, and we will continue to provide quality sports facilities for the benefit of our residents.”
Terrigal BMX Club President Brendan Miotello said it was an exciting time for the Club.
“These upgrades to the Terrigal BMX facility will provide a safer, more functional venue that will be accessed by our current members, potential future members and general community. It will provide a more competitive facility for our club,” Mr Miotello said.
