Empire Bay Drive Intersection Strategy on Go Slow

May 22, 2026

The long-awaited Empire Bay Drive Intersection Strategy Planning Project is still nowhere to be seen, more than a year since being announced.

The $15 million planning project promises to deliver a corridor upgrade development strategy for Empire Bay Drive, including upgrading the notorious intersection of Empire Bay Driver and Wards Hill Road.

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has written to the Minister for Regional Roads, Jenny Aitchison seeking answers for his community following a number of complaints to his office.

“The intersection of Empire Bay Drive and Wards Hill Road was long campaigned on by Labor, and yet, after promising a fix to intersections along Empire Bay Drive we’ve heard nothing since,” said Mr Crouch.

“Our community was promised $15 million for these upgrades, yet we still have seen no meaningful progress or action on getting this sorted.”

“Over the years, I’ve repeatedly called on the Minns Labor Government to get their act together and sort it out – and even after receiving funding from the Federal Labor Government, there’s nothing.”

Mr Crouch said the community deserved answers as to why it was taking so long to develop a strategy for upgrades to Empire Bay Drive.

“The people of the Central Coast are tired of getting the run around when it comes to crucial road projects like these,” said Mr Crouch.

“This government has an appalling track record when it comes to road delivery on the coast, whether it’s the upgrade of Avoca Drive or Terrigal Drive, we’re seeing no work and no delivery anywhere.”
