While the Minns Labor Government claims the Avoca Drive upgrade is another step closer, Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch says the community are tired of announcements and want less spin and more delivery, four years after the project was first announced.
The upgrade of Avoca Drive was first promised in 2022, yet early works or main construction work on stage one still has not occurred. A concept design and Review of Environmental Factors (REF) have only now been released.
Mr Crouch said while the release of the revised concept design and REF is welcome, the community are growing tired of repeated announcements without meaningful delivery.
“Here we are again with another announcement, another media release and another round of consultation, but still no shovels in the ground,” Mr Crouch said.
“Avoca Drive is one of the Central Coast’s worst bottlenecks and 26,000 commuters have been stuck dealing with worsening traffic every single day while the Albanese and Minns Labor Governments twiddle their thumbs.”
“Since this project was first announced, we’ve heard it’s a step closer, it’s progressing, it’s powering ahead and yet still no work has occurred.”
Mr Crouch said he would continue to advocate for the project to be expedited and delivered as quickly as possible.
“I’ll continue fighting to ensure this project is prioritised and delivered without any more delay,” Mr Crouch said.
“Early works to progress this upgrade need to occur now because our community deserves certainty, not vague timelines and buzzwords.”
