Woy Woy War Memorial has received $9,600 from the NSW Government’s Community War Memorials Fund to assist in its preservation for future generations.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the Memorial is located at Woy Woy Memorial Park on Brick Wharf Road.
“The conservation work to be undertaken with this $9,600 funding boost includes cleaning and repairs to the spire, as well as repairs to the marble inscription plaques,” Mr Crouch said.
“The Central Coast community lost many, many people to war and this sacrifice should never be forgotten.
“Woy Woy War Memorial is a place where our community regularly pays tribute to the war effort and it also represents a part of our community’s history. I am proud this funding will preserve the Memorial for years to come.”
Acting Minister for Veterans Geoff Lee said this was one of 22 projects to receive funding from this round of grants through the Community War Memorials Fund.
“A total of $140,000 has been invested in memorials across NSW from Bonalbo to Bungendore and Woy Woy to Wagga Wagga,” Mr Lee said.
“Funding will restore honour rolls, repair stone monuments and provide access to specialist conservation advice.”
Funding is available on a bi-annual basis, with applications for the next round of funding closing on 11 November 2020.
