Ettalong’s Maitland Bay Drive and Picnic Parade intersection upgrade to improve traffic flow and safety is now approaching the finish line.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the NSW Government was investing $7 million to construct a new, raised roundabout.
“Transport for NSW started work in July 2020 and in the space of just seven months, the finish line is already in sight, with the project expected to be completed in late March,” Mr Crouch said.
“In the past month, the team has laid a new road surface, completed the Kitchener Park carpark, median strip, guardrail replacement work and completed a traffic switch into the brand new roundabout configuration.
“In the next month we plan to have the roundabout concrete work and medians completed, install a new pedestrian refuge and on-road cyclist lanes, and start vegetation planting.
“This project has supported 20 jobs for Central Coast residents as well as five local suppliers, which is vital as we continue to recover from the economic impact of COVID-19.”
Installing a roundabout at the intersection of Maitland Bay Drive and Picnic Parade aims to reduce congestion, upgrade access to Ettalong Beach and improve traffic flow for the 19,000 motorists travelling through this intersection each day.
This intersection provides links between Ettalong Beach, Woy Woy and the suburbs on the eastern side of the Rip Bridge including Empire Bay and Kincumber.
