Clean-up kits are now available for Central Coast taxis and Ubers to help keep drivers and passengers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the free clean-up kits are being provided in addition to the vehicle sanitisation station already operating at West Gosford.
“A local sanitisation station has been operating for more than a month, which not only makes taxis and Ubers COVID-safe, but also helps boost the local economy by employing 16 people,” Mr Crouch said.
“The NSW Government is offering one clean-up kit per point-to-point vehicle, which allows vehicles to maintain a high level of hygiene even when they don’t have access to a sanitisation station.
“I would encourage taxis, Ubers, hire vehicles and community transport vehicles as well as Ambulance, Police and HealthShare vehicles to pick up a clean-up kit and use the sanitisation station.”
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the new kits would be available for collection online or from the West Gosford sanitisation station.
“These new kits will have gloves, saline eye wash, antiseptic swabs, soap, and first-aid hand towels stored in a resealable plastic bag to make it easy for drivers to use,” Mr Toole said.
Point-to-Point Transport Commissioner Anthony Wing said drivers should continue to do spot cleans of their vehicles to provide a high standard of cleanliness.
“Providing these clean-up kits is the next step in our continued support for the point to point transport industry during this challenging time,” Mr Wing said.
The West Gosford sanitisation station is open from 7am to 7pm on weekdays and from 8am to 5pm on Saturdays. The station is located at 7 Merinee Road West Gosford and is operated by Central Coast Taxis.
