Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has thanked Central Coast residents for undergoing COVID-19 testing en masse, with the latest figures revealing the number of tests conducted at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals.

“At these two testing clinics we’ve seen a total of 1,763 people get tested in the space of one week. This is in addition to thousands more being tested at 11 other locations on the Central Coast,” Mr Crouch said.

“The number recorded at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals is almost double the number of tests conducted in the previous week, and I want to thank everyone in our community who is treating this COVID-19 outbreak with the seriousness it requires.

“We must sustain these high rates of testing over the next couple of weeks to ensure there is no undetected community transmission of the contagious Delta strain.

“Given our proximity to Sydney, the Health advice has indicated we must continue to minimise our movement in order to prevent a seeding event on the Central Coast.”

Mr Crouch said COVID-19 tests are free, quick and can be accessed at many locations across the Central Coast.

“After taking a COVID-19 you must self-isolate until you receive a negative result, and we’re finding that approximately 95% of test results are returned to patients within 24 hours,” Mr Crouch said.

“The common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore or scratchy throat, runny nose shortness of breath and loss of taste or smell.

“Even if you take a COVID-19 test but then redevelop symptoms, no matter how mild, you must be re-tested.”
