Celebrating National Carers Week 2023

Oct 16, 2023

This week is National Carers Week, with this year’s theme, Millions of Reasons to Care, highlighting the 2.65 million unpaid carers across our nation and reflects their immeasurable commitment and selfless support for their loved ones.

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said National Carers Week was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the vital work that carers did for family members and friends across the Central Coast, particularly unpaid care and support to people with disability, mental health condition, chronic illness, drug and alcohol dependency or who are ageing.

“Caring for a family member or friend takes time, dedication and patience, and National Carers Week is an opportunity to celebrate the vital work carers do on the Central Coast,” said Mr Crouch.

“I can speak to my own lived experience as a carer and it can be a difficult role to undertake, however we do it out of love for our family and friends and that’s why National Carers Week is such a great opportunity to celebrate the great work our carers do.” said Mr Crouch.

In 2021-22, the NSW Liberal and National Government committed $4.9 million to support carers as part of the NSW Carers Strategy 2020-2030.

Support is available through the Carer Gateway or call 1800 422 737.

National Carers Week 2023 will take place from Sunday 15 to Saturday 21 October 2023.
