The Minns Labor Government has backflipped on its position to trial the removal of shark nets on the Central Coast after months of delay and uncertainty.

Despite repeated claims, the Government showed little genuine intent to trial the removal of shark nets and explore smarter, safer alternatives.

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch continues to advocate for the trial removal of shark nets and remains firm in his stance alongside the Central Coast Council.

“My position hasn’t changed and neither has the Central Coast Council’s. I continue to support the trial removal of shark nets and the use of smarter, safer alternatives,” Mr. Crouch said.

“Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, the Minns Government has reversed its position on trialling the removal of shark nets for the Central Coast. A setback for practical, non-lethal shark management.”

Mr. Crouch said the government did not inspire much trust when it came to actually trialling the removal of shark nets.

“There was zero confidence in this Government genuinely trialling the removal. Our Local Labor MPs again have been silent, which is disappointing for the community.”

With no leadership from local Labor MPs and a government unwilling to act, the Central Coast community remains frustrated and uncertain about the future of shark safety and environmental protection.
