Central Coast And Hunter Left Behind Again – Trains Late, Labor MPs Silent, And No Fix In Sight

Jul 24, 2025

Families across the Central Coast and Hunter are missing out. Not just on trains, but on opportunities. They’re missing specialist appointments. They’re missing quality time with loved ones. They’re missing the little things that keep life ticking over.

And Labor just keeps missing the point.

For financial year 2025 this has been the worst on record, with just 68.7% of services running on time

The latest data shows that on-time performance on the Central Coast and Hunter lines dropped to 64.4% for July so far. That’s not just a statistic; it’s a story of neglect, for a region that deserves far better.

NSW Leader of the Opposition Mark Speakman said Labor has had two years in power, three full budgets, and total control of transport and this is the result.

“People being left behind – literally,” Mr Speakman said.

Shadow Minister for Roads and Transport Natalie Ward asked where are the Labor MPs when their communities are waiting on the platform?

“Yasmin Catley, Jenny Aitchison, David Mehan, David Harris, Kate Washington, Jodie Harrison, Clayton Barr, Sonia Hornery, Liesl Tesch, Tim Crakanthorp — not one of them is speaking up,” Ms Ward said.

Shadow Minister for the Central Coast Adam Crouch said Labor takes the Central Coast and the Hunter for granted.

“They always have. But people on the Coast deserve more than excuses and finger-pointing. They deserve services that work,” Mr Crouch said.

It’s easy for the local Labor members to blame someone else. But eventually, they need to stand up and take responsibility. And that’s where Labor always falls short.
