Upgrades to Point Clare Station including two new lifts, accessible parking spaces and family amenities are one step closer, with major construction set to begin shortly.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the accessibility upgrade project is being delivered through the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program.
“This multi-million-dollar upgrade will make Point Clare Station more accessible to people with a disability, limited mobility, parents and carers with prams and people with luggage,” Mr Crouch said.
“The community was invited to provide feedback to Transport for NSW in February and this has ensured the final scope of works caters to the needs of people of all ages and abilities.”
Key features of the upgrade include:
- Two new lifts connecting each platform to the street level and commuter car parks,
- New stairs, pathways and ramps,
- New accessible parking spaces as well as new ‘kiss and ride’ spaces,
- Upgrades to the existing toilets to provide a new family accessible toilet and a new unisex ambulant toilet, and
- Improvements to lighting, power, signage and CCTV.
“Transport for NSW’s delivery partner, Gartner Rose, has already begun early works and the major construction phase will kick off shortly,” Mr Crouch said.
“Importantly, this project will support around 50 jobs and is on track to be completed in 2022.”
