School, early childhood, TAFE, VET and university staff are being encouraged to get vaccinated at Sunday’s mass vaccination clinics, operating between 7.00am and 3.00pm at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the mass vaccination clinics will be offering AstraZeneca vaccines on a first-in first-served basis.

“The Department of Education has made it very clear that all teachers and school staff need to be vaccinated in preparation for a staged return to face-to-face learning on 25 October,” Mr Crouch said.

“Vaccination is one of the best lines of defence against the deadly Delta strain, and vaccinating staff in the education sector is essential for the safety of students.

“A survey recently conducted by the Department of Education showed at least 56% of staff are already double dosed, but we need this to reach 100%.”

Mr Crouch said Gosford and Wyong Hospitals have the capacity to administer 1,200 vaccines this Sunday.

“Last Sunday the Central Coast Local Health District was urging hospitality staff to come forward for vaccination, and this week we’re urging Education staff to take advantage of this opportunity,” Mr Crouch said.

“For anyone who is over the age of 18, not pregnant and has no medical contraindications, the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective.”

People attending Gosford and Wyong Hospitals this Sunday are asked to bring a mobile phone, photo ID and their Medicare Card.

The Federal Government is responsible for supply and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. NSW Health continues to work closely with the Federal Government to plan and implement a safe and effective vaccination program.
