Unanswered Questions on Terrigal Drive Upgrade

Nov 4, 2026

Transport for NSW has released its priority upgrade plans for Terrigal Drive, with priority works identified between Chetwynd Road and Jessie Hurley Drive, and between Portsmouth Road and Serpentine Road.

While the release of the priority upgrade sections will be welcomed by the community, Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said there were still many unanswered questions regarding the upgrade.

Early works near the Mobbs Road roundabout are planned for December 2026, while construction start dates for the priority sections remain unconfirmed.

“Around 30,000 vehicles use Terrigal Drive every single day, so locals will welcome seeing the priority sections. But this plan raises far more questions than it answers,” Mr Crouch said.

“There’s no detail on the section between Serpentine Road and Duffys Road, nothing on the dangerous Jessie Hurley Drive intersection, and not a single construction start date.”

“What the plan does show is a piecemeal approach to this road upgrade, with extra lanes added here and there and no commitment to actually upgrade the entire road.”

Mr Crouch said the lack of detail on construction timelines followed the same pattern as other major road projects across the Coast, including the upgrades of Avoca Drive, Pacific Highway through Wyong and the Tumbi Road intersection upgrade.

“Both the Albanese and Minns Labor Governments have form when it comes to delaying and failing to deliver road projects in our region. They roll out announcement after announcement to create the appearance of progress while motorists are left sitting in traffic every day,” Mr Crouch said.

“The upgrade of Avoca Drive was first announced back in 2022 and locals are still waiting. Given that track record, I have no confidence Terrigal Drive will be delivered on time or on budget.”

“Construction on the Tumbi Road intersection started ahead of schedule under the former Liberal-National Government, then Labor hit the brakes. Now it’s over budget and more than a year behind schedule.”

“We can’t let Terrigal Drive go the same way. I’m calling on the Albanese and Minns Labor Governments to stop the spin; confirm a construction start and completion date to give our community the certainty it deserves.”
