Aboriginal children and families across the Central Coast will have additional support to participate in 600 hours of quality early childhood education in the two years prior to school.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said that Central Coast families would have the chance to benefit from these grants through a number of initiatives.
“The funding can be used for initiatives such as transport services to help families access the preschools, development opportunities for staff to learn how to further support Aboriginal children and engagement with Aboriginal community members,” Mr Crouch said.
“Services in Erina and Toukley will have access to a range of initiatives to support access to quality preschool education for Aboriginal children that will benefit and enrich the development of culture in the community.
“I want to congratulate Footprints Early Learning Centre in Erina and Toukley Pre-School for being successful in obtaining a $10,000 grant to help support this important initiative.”
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the grants will provide educational activities that will strengthen the foundations of children’s learning in those crucial years before school.
“I’m excited that Aboriginal children across the Central Coast will be supported to participate in preschool. We know that participation in early childhood education is fundamental to ensure children have the best possible start to their educational journeys,” Ms Mitchell said.
“This is about making sure that Aboriginal children and their families are supported and have easy access to quality early learning.”
