Six new probationary constables will commence duties at the Brisbane Water Police District this week after new officers attested at a formal ceremony at the Goulburn Police Academy last week.
Class 366 is made up of 221 men and 93 women (aged between 19 and 59). The cohort also includes 18 First Nations officers and officers who were born in 18 different countries.
Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch caught up with the new officers to officially welcome them to the region.
“Six fantastic Probationary Constables have been allocated to the Brisbane Water Police District and are ready to hit the ground running to serve and protect our community,” Mr Crouch said.
“Our local police do an outstanding job protecting the Central Coast, and the addition of these new recruits will provide an important boost to police numbers across our region.”
Shadow Minister for Police Paul Toole shared his welcome to the enthusiastic new recruits who come from diverse backgrounds and professional experience.
“I am proud to welcome the new recruits into the NSW Police Force, who have taken up the incredibly challenging but rewarding responsibility of serving and protecting the people of NSW,” Mr Toole said.
“Policing is like no other profession; it is a selfless career where officers run towards danger to protect us and the wider community rather than the natural instinct to run in the opposite direction.
The recruits have completed eight months of foundational training and those allocated to commands within the Brisbane Water Police District will report to their stations from Monday 25 August to complete 12 months’ on-the-job training and study by distance education.
