The Public Safety Network on the Central Coast is continuing to expand, with the completion of a new radio site at Boomerang Ridge, near Kulnura.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the emergency communications tower was delivered by the NSW Telco Authority, and is vital to ongoing community safety.
“Alongside the triple zero emergency hotline, the Public Safety Network is the most critical communications network in our State,” Mr Crouch said.
“Public Safety Network sites provide emergency services with a single, integrated network upon which they communicate even when regular mobile towers are out-of-range or damaged.
“The Black Summer of bushfires in 2019-20 saw flames reach as far east as Mangrove Mountain, which is why protecting the community of Kulnura as well as the surrounding area is so vital.
“This is the Central Coast’s third Public Safety Network site to be switched ‘on’ in the space of three months and will ensure frontline responders have a more reliable network to keep people and property safe during emergencies.”
Minister for Digital and Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the NSW Government was investing more than $600 million in essential infrastructure to better protect communities.
“During an emergency every second counts. The new radio site at Boomerang Ridge will make it easier for our local emergency services to communicate when it matters most,” Mr Dominello said.
“The Public Safety Network’s expansion represents the biggest investment in critical communications infrastructure by the NSW Government in two decades.”
The new Public Safety Network site is located at Boomerang Point Road (adjacent to Mangrove Creek Dam) at Boomerang Ridge.
