Upgrades to 16 sporting grounds on the Central Coast will be fully funded by the NSW Government, helping to improve facilities and boost participation.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the NSW Government has committed $11 million to deliver a range of improvements.
“16 sport ovals and facilities that cater to a range of sporting codes will be enhanced, making participating in and watching sport more enjoyable for a range of levels and ages,” Mr Crouch said.
“Among the local sporting grounds to benefit are Wyoming’s Maidens Brush Oval, Buff Point Oval, Kincumber’s Patrick Croke Oval and Narara’s Pandala Oval.
“These 16 projects are also expected to provide an economic boost for our region, creating work for local tradies and suppliers, who will spend much of their salaries in local businesses and support even more local jobs.”
Mr Crouch said due to Central Coast Council’s financial situation, the $11 million announced in 2020 for the second stage of Tuggerah’s Regional Sports and Recreation Complex had to be re-scoped.
“I have secured a commitment from the NSW Government that this funding will still benefit local sporting grounds while also enabling a scaled back upgrade at the Regional Sports and Recreation Complex,” Mr Crouch said.
“The work at each of these 16 sites will be delivered by the NSW Government’s Public Works Advisory, not Central Coast Council.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the NSW Government continues to make a big difference in regional NSW by delivering new and improved facilities in regional communities.
“The NSW Government is investing record funding to ensure that regional NSW continues to be a terrific place to live, work and play. It’s exciting to see projects like these which make a big difference to everyday life on the Central Coast,” Mr Barilaro said.
