Labor’s Heartstopper

Dec 14, 2023

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has slammed the Minns Labor Government for changing the eligibility criteria for the lifesaving Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program, disadvantaging all local sporting clubs in his electorate.

“In what is a disgusting display of pork-barrelling by the Minns Labor Government, not one sporting club in my electorate will be able to apply for funding under the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program this year because they are not in an eligible postcode.”

“The Minns Labor Government have essentially deemed that any sporting club and users of sporting facilities in my electorate not worthy of lifesaving defibrillators, which is frankly, shameful and discriminatory.”

Mr Crouch said that as the former Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast in the previous Liberal-National Government, he made sure the region got its fair share of funding, regardless of postcode or political representation.

“This program was established by the former Liberal-National Government to literally save lives, and this miserable government have decided political point scoring and pork-barrelling is more important than saving the lives of those who use our sporting fields.”

“I’ll remind the Labor members on the Central Coast, of which all of their seats are eligible for funding under this year’s criteria, that many people in their electorate travel to sporting fields in my electorate.”

“This means that their own constituents could be victims of the Minns Labor Government’s discriminatory and disgraceful decision.”

“People in the Terrigal electorate are being denied the ability to apply for life-saving defibrillators which is a disgusting display of pork barrelling.”
