State Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch and Federal Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks are encouraging Central Coast residents to join together this Australia Day and thank our volunteers.
Locals will be able to write messages of thanks to our Rural Fire Service volunteers this week at four street stalls, in recognition of their tireless work during the recent bushfires.
“This Australia Day, we’re taking the opportunity to show our appreciation for our local heroes for their time and effort helping others,” Ms Wicks said.
“Many of our local emergency services volunteers selflessly gave up time with their families over the Christmas period to protect communities affected by fire.
“We have been humbled by scenes of our local volunteers protecting fellow Australians, their homes and our precious wildlife.
“This generosity and heroism embodies the Australian spirit of mateship and lending a hand to fellow Australians when they need it most.”
The messages thanking our local firefighters will be collated in a book and presented to the RFS.
State Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said that he would be joining Lucy Wicks MP to celebrate Australia Day at the Australia Day Street Stall in Terrigal.
“Australia Day is a proud and patriotic occasion for Australians, and I am looking forward to joining our Central Coast community at citizenship ceremonies and public events on our nation’s day,” Mr Crouch said.
“I would urge everyone to use this long weekend as an opportunity to reflect, celebrate what we have achieved together and remember that we are so lucky to live in this great country.”
