Central Coast Aero Club Reaches New Heights

Oct 24, 2023

The Central Coast Aero Club is reaching new heights, with Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch congratulating the Club on their anniversary dinner and CASA award presentation.

The Aero Club recently held a special anniversary dinner alongside the formal presentation of the Aero Club of the Year award by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

“It was an absolute pleasure to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Aero Club at Warnervale, and it was heartening to see our very own Central Coast Aero Club awarded with his highly coveted award, recognising their efforts and dedication to aviation in our region.”

“It was only a few years ago the Aero Club faced a dedicated campaign with proponents determined to close Warnervale Airport down through any means possible.”

“In stark contrast, I was delighted to be able to be able to provide the former Coalition government’s support in removing the Warnervale Airport Restrictions Act, paving the way for growth of not only the airport but the Aero Club.”

General Manager of the Central Coast Aero Club Andrew Smith said the night was a night to celebrate not only the 50th Anniversary of the Aero Club, but to formally accept the Aero Club of the Year Award from the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority.

Alongside the formal awarding of the Aero Club of the Year Award by CASA, attendees were also treated to an aerobatic display and formation by the Aero Club.

“I felt very privileged to fly lead aircraft in a 6-ship formation, which was followed by aerobatic displays, leading on to our formal evening with speeches from our guests and live entertainment from local singer Ella Powell.”

“Our club has continued to experience strong growth over the past three years, with membership increasing from 250 to 300 members and the flying school growing even more so.” said Mr Smith.

With the opening of the second Sydney Airport on the horizon, Mr Crouch said there are endless opportunities for the future of the Aero Club and Warnervale Airport.

“It’s wonderful to see firsthand the growth of the Central Coast Aero Club over the years, and there will be plenty of opportunity for those wanting a career in aviation, both on the ground and in the air, whether it be engineering or piloting.”

“The future of the Aero Club and Warnervale Airport is bright, and I look forward to their upcoming Air Show in 2024.”
