Premier Gladys Berejiklian joined Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch today at the Brooke Avenue Public School sod turning ceremony to celebrate the school’s major upgrade, which will soon get underway.
Ms Berejiklian said the community at Killarney Vale are the latest to benefit from the historic school building program.
“Central Coast students will benefit from the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“Local students will enjoy a new building with modern classrooms and a new sports court.
“We want to ensure that every child, no matter where they are from, has access to a top quality education.”
Mr Crouch said the NSW Government was delivering its election commitment to replace demountable classrooms with new, future-focused teaching spaces.
“The project will see a new building delivered with four permanent teaching spaces and a new sports court,” Mr Crouch said.
“Tuggerah-based company North Construction & Building has been selected to undertake this work and I am delighted it will provide 20 local jobs and support the community to recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19.”
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said she was proud the NSW Government was delivering such an important project for the school.
“Students across NSW are benefitting from our Government’s record investment in new and upgraded schools,” Ms Mitchell said.
“I am very excited for this upgrade that will benefit the community for generations to come.”
The new building will be located on the site of the existing sports courts, which will be relocated to a new location.
The NSW Government is investing $7 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver more than 200 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
