$1.4 Million Bouddi Coastal Walk Upgrade Continues

Construction begins today on the third stage of Bouddi Coastal Walk’s $1.4 million transformation.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the project is funded as part of the NSW Government’s largest ever investment in national park visitor infrastructure.

“Starting today, a 650 metre stretch of the Bouddi Coastal Walk between Gerrin Point and Maitland Bay will be upgraded with 90 new sandstone steps, track resurfacing in eroded sections, and two new lookouts overlooking Smugglers Cove and Maitland Bay” Mr Crouch said.

“Stages one and two have already been completed, which means we’ve now passed the half way mark in this four-stage, three-year project being delivered by local National Parks and Wildlife Service staff.

“Not only will these upgrades increase the longevity of this section of track and improve views for visitors, they will also help to protect the pristine natural environment of Bouddi National Park.

“Bouddi Coastal Walk is one of our region’s most popular walks with more than 200,000 people lacing up their walking shoes and hitting the trail each year, and it’s fantastic to see funding from the NSW Government improving the experience for locals and visitors alike.”

Due to its remote location, equipment and materials will be airlifted by helicopter to the construction sites.

Construction will take approximately 14 weeks and is weather-dependent. The Bouddi Coastal Walk will be closed from Gerrin Point north to Maitland Bay during this time.

Visitors are asked to avoid the area while closures are in place and check the NPWS website for the latest project updates.
