Community Raises Over $2,000 for Breast Cancer Research

Oct 8, 2026

More than $2,000 was raised by the community yesterday as part of a Pink Ribbon Morning Tea hosted by Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch.

Held as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, attendees gathered over cookies, scones, cupcakes and coffee to support breast cancer research with local businesses and community groups contributing to the fundraiser.

Mr Crouch said the success of the event reflected the generosity of the Central Coast community and the commitment to finding a cure for breast cancer.

“I am so grateful to the community for turning up and supporting this important cause to raise funds for breast cancer research,”

“We all know someone who has been touched by the scourge of cancer, and the Pink Ribbon Morning Tea was a way in which we can make a contribution to finding a cure for breast cancer.”

During the morning tea, Mr Crouch spoke on the impact of breast cancer on families, including his own personal experience with his wife Jill, followed by Dr Kelly Needham, a former radiation oncology clinician and women’s health practitioner.

“Surviving breast cancer is an incredible achievement, but surviving shouldn’t mean settling. Women deserve more than simply being cancer-free,” Dr Needham said.

“They deserve to sleep well, feel comfortable in their bodies, enjoy intimacy and recognise themselves again. That’s not vanity, that’s quality of life, and it’s an essential part of survivorship.”

“Breast cancer equals no form of HRT, put up with the side effects of treatment. End of conversation. However, the reality today is more nuanced than that. Every woman deserves to revisit that conversation and receive individualised up to date advice.”

Mr Crouch also acknowledged the numerous local businesses and groups that supported the event and made it possible.

“A big thank you to Epico Church for providing the venue, and to the Terrigal Country Women’s Association, Dr Kelly Needham and the Coastal Goddess clinic, Montaze, Cakes by Kyla and Yummy Delicious and Dan Murphys Erina for their generous support in making the morning such a success.”
