Central Coast Kids in Need is calling on the community to support its 2026 Blue Bin Appeal, helping bring Christmas cheer to local families experiencing hardship.
The appeal collects everyday essentials and thoughtful gifts to create Christmas gift bags for single parents, teenage girls and nans who may otherwise go without a present during the festive season.
Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch encouraged residents to get behind the initiative and give what they can.
“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for families already struggling to cover everyday needs,” Mr Crouch said.
“The Blue Bin Appeal is a simple way to show local families that their community cares and help make Christmas a little brighter.
“Our region has always shown tremendous support for those doing it tough, so every donation, big or small, will help Central Coast Kids in Need bring some extra joy to those who need it most.”
Central Coast Kids in Need Secretary Lorraine Churchill said the donations were a way to recognise and support families who often go without at Christmas.
“The kinds of items we’re asking people to donate into the blue bin are for special gift bags we put together for families in need. Things like body wash, body lotion, candles, hairbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, hand cream, perfume. Anything to make them feel a bit special,” Mrs Churchill said.
“These families often don’t have anybody to buy presents for them, so we try to make it as special as possible. And to everybody who donates, thank you in advance.”
Residents can contribute by placing donated items in the appeal’s blue collection bins, including the bin at Adam Crouch’s office in Fountain Plaza.
“Something as simple as a gift of hand cream, a candle or a bottle of perfume can help someone feel remembered and valued this Christmas,” Mr Crouch said.
“I encourage everyone who can to drop off a donation and support the wonderful work of Central Coast Kids in Need.”
