Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has welcomed the official opening of the new dedicated Palliative Care Unit at Wyong Hospital, four years after funding for the project was first announced by the former Liberal Government.
In November 2022, the former Liberal Government announced $13.6 million to deliver the new 12-bed Palliative Care Unit at Wyong Hospital, following the $200 million redevelopment of Wyong Hospital and $6.4 million investment to expand the Cancer Day Unit.
The purpose-built facility features bedrooms with ensuites, communal and family areas, individual patient balconies and a landscaped garden.
Mr Crouch said he was pleased to see the project now open and supporting patients and families across the region.
“I was very proud to be part of a government that delivered record investment in palliative care, and it is so rewarding to see this outstanding new facility open its doors,” Mr Crouch said.
“This facility will provide outstanding care and support to thousands of patients, families and loved ones for many years to come.”

Mr Crouch also acknowledged the Elsie’s Retreat volunteers who had been instrumental in helping bring the project to fruition.
