With three months passing by since the silting up of the Ettalong Channel, Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has called on the Minns Labor Government to step up and provide a clear timeline and schedule of works for the Ettalong Channel.
“After three months of silence from the Minister for Transport, we have been provided an update on the vague information we already knew; MIDO was applying for the necessary permits which we believe have been approved, to start dredging and that it would occur in August.”
“However, with three weeks to go until the end of August, there are still many questions the community has that are unanswered.”
Mr Crouch said that communities and businesses on the Bouddi Peninsula are suffering from inaction by the State Government, and dredging needs to happen now.
“The Transport Minister needs to confirm to the that MIDO has obtained all the necessary permits, confirm whether a Crown Lands license to carry out dredging has been obtained and confirm a contractor has been engaged and a start date for dredging has been set.
“The former Liberal National Government provided $6.2 million in funding for dredging to occur in key waterways, including the Ettalong Channel, and I’m calling on this State Government to get the dredge going now!”
