$9.93 million boost to School Maintenance Work
Central Coast public schools have been a hive of activity over the summer holidays with almost $10 million of school maintenance work carried out.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said work included painting, carpeting and accessibility improvements.
“Thanks to our strong Budget position we have been able to carry out $9.93 million of work at Central Coast public schools in the summer holiday period alone,” Mr Crouch said.
“Every single child deserves access to great school facilities, and this is exactly what we are delivering.”
Member of the Legislative Council Taylor Martin said $1.3 billion has been committed by the NSW Government to eliminate the backlog of maintenance work.
“We inherited a billion dollar backlog from Labor but our investment will clear it completely,” Mr Martin said.
The NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, a record $1.3 billion is being spent on school maintenance over five years, along with a record $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
